Labmaster’s MxA rapid test used in Mehiläinen’s pilot to distinguish viral and bacterial infections.

Mehiläinen has launched a pilot for MxA rapid test in the Helsinki metropolitan area and Turku.

The pilot utilizes the MxA rapid test developed by Labmaster, which can reliably identify a viral infection from a simple finger-prick sample. When a bacterial infection can be quickly ruled out, unnecessary additional tests and antibiotic treatments can be avoided.

MxA is a natural defense protein that rises rapidly in common respiratory viral infections. The test provides clinicians with a reliable tool in situations where symptoms alone do not clearly distinguish between viral and bacterial causes. It is suitable for assessing both children and adults and supports the responsible use of antibiotics.

The pilot is being carried out at Mehiläinen’s medical centers in Töölö, Itäkeskus and Forum in Helsinki, as well as the Kauppiaskatu medical center in Turku.
